About This Reef Blog
This is where we keep notes on maintenance, our observations, general ramblings and latest happenings in our 70-gallon reef tank. Glad you found it, hopefully you found the content informative and useful! Check the calendar to the right to see when we last updated the blog, or go straight to the Blog Entries.
Feel free to drop us a line and let us know how you found us, and if what you found was helpful. And of course, please comment on any of the posts too - or ask a question about a related subject. Maybe we have an answer but haven’t had a chance to blog about our experience yet!
Who are we?
unrulymck, aka driftin on several webforums (primarily Reef Central, Uberfrags, and mofib). I’m Jim, the “mck” half of unrulymck. Pauline is the better half ;)
What info is in this blog?
The blog posts here are really the day-to-day events and activities associated with maintaining our reef tank. There’s a lot of information that can be gleaned by doing a search here, by clicking on the tags, or choosing a category in the pull-down to the right. The pages on our main website (navigation links to the right and also in the header of this page) are better organized if you’re interested in learning basics about the tank set-up, livestock, equipment, breeding of the pajama cardinals, etc.
What are all those other links?
There is some really cool stuff out there! Most of the links you’ll find here are for other hobbyist blogs, although from looking at their tanks you’d question the choice of the word “hobbyist.” Some absolutely stunning set-ups. There are a couple other fun and interesting blogs we linked as well. Of course check out the reef webcams. If you have a reef-related blog or webcam set up and want it added to our list, send us a comment (bottom of this page). If there’s a dead link, let us know that too!
Anything new coming soon?
- More photos of the inhabitants, including the female pajama cardinal, corals, cleanup crew
- Maybe a nifty header image, although it’s been giving me a hard time lately. Doesn’t help that this page’s format only allows for a photo 60 pixels tall… that’s not a lot to work with!

Thanks Phil, link added! I like what you’ve laid out at your blog. Checked out your reefcam and was greeted by a sexy shrimp, one of my favorites!
